SXP Quality Control

In conjunction with the Shop Floor Data Capture, SXP production allows you to define quality control (QC) tasks and capture data from the tests.

QC Test Definition and Assignment

QC tests are defined and then assigned to the resource line on the production order where the test should be carried out.

Shop Floor Data Capture then prevents the closure of any such step until the QC test results have been captured.

To define a test, go to Production> QC Test Definition in SAP Business One.

This is a master data style form in SAP Business One where you can give tests a code and name.

At the line level, you can then define a series of questions to QC tests/data to be collected and give them a value range in which the test results are considered a pass or fail.

Once a test plan has been defined, you can associate it with a resource line on a bill of materials for an item.

Each time that bill of materials is used on a production order, SXP will prompt the user to perform the QC test.

In Shop Floor Data Capture, when production processes have a linked QC test, it shows the user the test name and provides a link to fill in the QC results.

Users can start a step that requires a QC test, but they cannot complete it if no results have been captured.

To complete the QC test, the operative can click on the link from Shop Floor Data Capture.

They'll see the "QC Test Results Data Capture" form.

Users should enter the test results of the assigned plan and click submit.

SXP will determine whether the values entered were inside the test plan range and whether the QC has passed or failed.

It will then change the status of the "QC Result in Shop Floor Data Capture" to passed or failed, allowing the user to complete the step.

In SAP Business One, a UDF at the production order line shows whether a step has passed or failed QC, along with a link to view the completed QC form in SXP.

SXP also creates a PDF copy of the form entry and adds it to the production order attachments.

Finally, the raw data is written into an SAP Business One user-defined table called V33_QCTESTS_RESULTS.

This allows customised QC-related documentation using Crystal Reports or other reporting tools.

If a QC test fails, SXP lets users re-record the test values by entering the results again until the QC test passes and the production order step is complete. This is an optional process.
